ANCHOR BAY ENTERTAINMENT PROMOTES
TO EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT
BEVERLY HILLS, CA -- Anchor Bay Entertainment, the leading distributor of independent feature films and home entertainment product, has promoted Julie Cartwright to executive vice president worldwide marketing. Anchor Bay Entertainment President Bill Clark announced today.
“Julie has both an incredible creative prowess and a keen understanding of the home entertainment category with its evolving physical and digital models,” commented Clark. “Her relationship with retailers and filmmakers makes her an excellent choice to lead the Anchor Bay brand marketing team. She has also been instrumental in positioning Anchor Bay as a category leader in fitness in the development of both proprietary brands and licensed product, delivering a 300%+ revenue growth over the prior several years. She has been a key member of the ABE senior management team, delivering significant positive impact as an executive. We’re fortunate to be partnering with her and have on the team.”
In this newly-expanded role, Cartwright will oversee marketing for all Anchor Bay releases including all titles through the Anchor Bay Films division as well as those for STARZ Original series, The Weinstein Company, RADiUS Films and international programming sourced from Anchor Bay’s Canadian, Australian and UK divisions.
Cartwright started her career in entertainment at Anchor Bay in 1999 and helped to grow the Thomas & Friends® DVD brand by double digits over three years by expanding retail, creatively marketing and developing unique product offerings. She went on to launch the TV on DVD business for the company. Currently, she is responsible for managing the team that oversees all the STARZ Original Series as well as AMC’s award winning show “The Walking Dead.”
Most notably though, she has overseen ABE’s fitness category for the past decade, driving huge growth in the category over that time. Cartwright has successfully launched new proprietary fitness brands for the company including “Element” and managed licensing and supplier deals with brands like “Weight Watchers”, “Tracy Anderson”, and “Leslie Sansone”. Cartwright expanded distribution into new channels of retail, and pioneered partnerships with several Fortune 500 companies including Kelloggs. She also manages the team responsible for the world’s fastest growing sports organization, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) label. She spent two years in New York working with HIT Entertainment prior to returning to Anchor Bay in 2003.
“I’m excited about expanding my role at Anchor Bay,” stated Cartwright. “During my years here, I have seen this company evolve and grow and I’ve had the chance to work with some of the most passionate & creative people in the industry. Along with my team, we’ve been allowed a tremendous opportunity which has garnered award-winning releases. I look forward to breaking new ground with Anchor Bay worldwide.”
